5. Is there a charge for using this service?

6. Should I only bid based on what I hear from the auctioneer on my computer speakers?
No. The key to bidding on the internet is to bid based on the value displayed in your bid button. While the audio is helpful and generally synchronized with your bid button, it's important to focus on the value displayed in your bid button, as this is the amount that is submitted to the auctioneer. For example, if you click on the bid button when it reads $500, you are submitting a bid for $500, regardless of what you hear the auctioneer say.
7. How do I know if my bid has been submitted to the auctioneer?
When you click on your bid button to submit a bid to the auctioneer, you will see the message "BID SUBMITTED - $XX,XXX" above your bid button. This message confirms that you have submitted your bid as well as confirming the amount of your bid. If you don't see this message or it says “BID REJECTED”, your bid did not get to the auctioneer in time; you can bid again if you want to.
8. I don't seem to be able to get my bid accepted in the early stages of the bidding. Why not?
In the early stages of the auction of a lot, the asking price can change very rapidly. When you click on your bid button, it's possible that many other bidders (whether in-person, proxy, or on the internet) were also placing bids, and of course only one bid at any amount can be accepted. Don't worry, you should have plenty of time to get your bid in as the auctioneer begins to slow down prior to selling the lot.
9. How do I know when my bid has been accepted by the auctioneer?
When your bid has been accepted by the auctioneer, the message "You are now high bidder" will appear below your bid button. When this message is displayed, you are the high bidder, and your bid button will be disabled to prevent you from raising your own bid. If you do not see this message, then your bid has not been accepted. You can bid again if you want to.

10. Why can't I propose a different bid amount to the auctioneer?
The internet bidding system is designed to make it both simple and convenient for you to place your bids. Allowing you to propose a bid to the auctioneer in an amount other than the amount being asked for by the auctioneer would complicate the system and slow down the auction process.
11. Am I protected against raising my bid if I'm the high bidder?
Yes. The Stack's at Home™ software recognizes when you are the current high bidder and automatically disables your bid button to prevent you from raising your own high bid. If you get outbid by another bidder, your bid button will be automatically reactivated.
12. May I withdraw a bid after I've submitted it?
No. All bids submitted using the Stack's at Home™ service are final and irrevocable. When you click the bid button you are submitting a binding bid in the amount displayed in the bid button to the auctioneer. If you are the high bidder and the auctioneer sells the lot to you, you are the new owner of the lot. So, if you do not intend to buy the item, do not click your bid button.
13. What happens if I accidentally click my bid button?
The Stack's at Home™ software has been designed to prevent accidental clicking of the bid button. To protect you from accidental bids, your bid button is not activated until you select a lot by checking it in the lot selection area. When you activate your bid button, you are signaling your intention to bid. If you activate your bid button and then click your bid button, you are submitting an irrevocable bid.
14. Why does my current lot not automatically highlight when the lot changes in the live auction?
You must have the “Click to Follow Current Lot” check box checked in order to have the Stack's at Home™ system do this. This check box is just above the lot listings.

15. What does the ‘Auto Bid’ column mean?
As a live bidder, you can enter a maximum dollar amount that you would like to bid for the current lot or any future lot. You can simply enter the maximum dollar amount that you would like to bid into that column and the Stack's at Home™ system will automatically place your bid at each increment where you are not the high bidder until the dollar amount you entered is reached. If you change your mind and would like to bid more on the current lot, you may then use your bid button after the Auto Bid amount is reached.
16. What happens if I bid more than my credit limit?
Stack's at Home™ knows what your credit limit is and your bid button will be disabled once you reach your limit.
17. Sometimes I see the message "You are now high bidder" immediately followed by the bid status message "You have been outbid! Bid again". Why does this happen?
In some cases, your bid and a bid from an in-person bidder at the auction site are presented to auctioneer at very nearly the same instance. If the auctioneer recognizes the bid from the in-person bidder first, the computer system may momentarily acknowledge you as the high bidder, but it will quickly correct itself by recognizing the in-person bidder as the high bidder. If this occurs, you get the message "TOO LATE - BID AGAIN NOW" and you then have to submit a new bid.
18. What happens if I lose my internet connection while I'm bidding?
As with all technology, the internet is not 100% reliable. From time to time, you may experience internet disconnects while you're logged into the auction. If this happens, re-establish your connection as quickly as possible and Stack's at Home™ should start up again automatically. If not, re-launch the Stack's at Home™ software. If you were actively bidding when you were disconnected and you were the high bidder at that point, the lot will still be sold to you if you're still the high bidder when the auctioneer sells the lot. When you re-establish your connection and rejoin the auction, click the "View Won Items Report" button to find out if the lot was sold to you.
19. My connection seems to be running the auction slowly. What can I do to speed it up?
Below the video screen are buttons to start and stop the streaming audio and video. You may decide to stop one or both of these as it takes a more bandwidth to run these streaming processes. The Stack's at Home™ bidding software will still run without the streaming processes.
